Rotary torque is the force required to cause something that is free to rotate and to rotate continuously. For example, a propeller shaft or transmission shaft requires rotary torque to rotate continuously (360º). Some other examples of rotational torque include industrial motor drives and gear reducers. Rotary torque is differentiated from reaction torque.
